— Hello! I'm Julian. I was born and raised in Shanghai and now call Toronto home. I studied photography and started my career as a press photographer, but filmmaking has always been what I truly enjoy. Over the past decade, I’ve focused on wedding and event videography and have had the chance to capture over 700 weddings. I tend to be more quiet and observant on a wedding day, which allows me to focus fully on what’s happening and capture moments as they naturally unfold. I care a lot about the couples I work with and the films I create. My goal is always the same: to tell your story in a way that feels real, emotional, and true to who you are.
“What is your filming style?”
— My approach is very natural and documentary-driven. I focus on capturing real moments as they happen rather than staging or directing too much. The laughter, the emotions, the in-between moments — those are the things that make your film meaningful over time. I’ll guide when needed (especially during portraits), but for most of the day, I stay as unobtrusive as possible so everything feels genuine and not forced.
“What can we expect on the wedding day?”
— On your wedding day, I’ll be there to quietly document everything as it unfolds. I usually start with getting ready, capturing the details and atmosphere, then follow through the ceremony, portraits, and reception. I work closely with your photographer to make sure everything flows smoothly without getting in each other’s way. I won’t over-direct or interrupt moments. Instead, I focus on being in the right place at the right time so nothing important is missed, while you stay fully present in your day.
“Do you offer photography as well?”
— I specialize exclusively in videography so I can focus fully on delivering the best possible films. That said, I’ve worked with many talented photographers over the years and would be happy to recommend someone whose style fits what you’re looking for.
“Do you use drone footage?”
— Drone footage can be added when weather, timing, and location allow. I usually recommend it when the venue or surroundings really benefit from an aerial perspective. If it’s a good fit, it adds a nice cinematic touch to the film.
“What kind of equipment do you use for filming?”
— I use professional cinema cameras and audio equipment to ensure everything is captured at a high standard. My main setup includes Sony FX3 and FX30 cameras, along with professional audio recorders and multiple backup systems. I also use a gimbal for smooth movement and a drone when conditions allow. More importantly than the gear, I always come prepared with backups and a workflow that ensures nothing is missed.
“How do you record audio?”
— Audio is just as important as visuals, especially for vows and speeches. For ceremonies, I typically place a small microphone on the groom or officiant to clearly capture your vows. For speeches, I connect directly to the DJ’s system and also run backup recorders. This way, everything is captured cleanly and safely.
“How do you choose the music?”
— I always ask if you have any music preferences before editing. If there’s a song that’s meaningful to you, I’ll do my best to incorporate it. If you’re not sure, I’ll select music that fits the mood and story of your day. The goal is always to make the film feel personal and emotionally connected to you.
“What is the turnaround time and delivery method?”
— The turnaround time is typically around 12–16 weeks depending on the season. All editing is done in-house to maintain consistency and quality. Once finished, your videos will be delivered through a personalized online gallery where you can stream, share, and download everything.
“How can we book you?”
— You can reach out through the contact form or email with your wedding details. I’ll confirm availability and send over the package information. If everything looks good, a signed contract and a 30% deposit will secure your date, and we’ll be all set and good to go.
